Visiting Sandringham - Sandringham Estate

Sandringham's gardens were opened to the public by King Edward VII in 1908, and the Museum by King George V in 1930; Sandringham House was opened to the public at Her Majesty The Queen's wish in her Silver Jubilee year of 1977.

There is a very great deal to see and do at Sandringham (a copy of our 2013 leaflet is available here); we recommend that visitors allow at least 4 hours in order to get the most out of their time here, and to make the most of the unhurried welcome we offer.

The shops and restaurants at the Visitor Centre are open every day all through the year, except on Good Friday. Please note that we regret we are unable at present to offer tractor and trailer tours of the Country Park.

2013 opening dates:

Sandringham House, Gardens and Museum will be open daily from Easter Saturday, 30th March until and including Sunday 3rd November EXCEPT for the period Saturday 27th July to Friday 2nd August inclusive, re-opening on Saturday 3rd August.

Car and coach parking are free of charge. Dogs (except registered assistance dogs) are not admitted in the Gardens but are welcome in the Country Park.

Private Evening Tours of Sandringham House are available by prior arrangement for groups. Afternoon tea for two, including entry to the House, Museum and Gardens, is available by prebooking through the Restaurant - more details available here.

Average time of visit: allow 3-4 hours.
